I've had an ipad since the 3g launch last year. I have always been impressed with the battery life. I got a 32 wifi ipad 2 on launch day. I am now charging it for my 3rd time.

I can't help but notice how much longer it is taking to get to a 100% charge than the original ipad did. I've had it connected for four hours this morning and it is only at 82%.

Anyone else experiencing the same?

It's been 2 hours and I'm at 87% now. Remember that batteries charge at a capacity vs time at an exponential rate. Meaning the more it's charged, the longer it'll take to get to the next %. It'll go from 0 to 20% much faster than it will go from 80 to 100%. Keep that in mind.

Depends on how low the battery and how you charge it:

To USB computer or to a wall outlet. It will charge faster plugged into the wall. That was my experience. YMMV

I should have included that it's been plugged into a wall outlet with the charging cable that came with it. Charging from lower than 10%, but still seems it should be charging faster.

Mine wont charge at all from my desktop pc's usb port which is kind of annoying. Its pretty slow (maybe 20% per hour.. pure estimate) from the wall. Ive never had it get below 50% though.

Yeah, always use the charger it came with. Those are 10-watt chargers; the ones that come with iPhones and iPods are only 5 watts, and would take twice as long to charge.

I find the iPad chargers also charge iPhones much faster. :)

We are using the charger that came with the iPad. It's incredibly slow. Let it charge overnight and it only gets to 98%.

Yes and no.

I get a normal/fast 4 hour charge from 20% if I use the supplied charger and cable. However, if I use one of the cables that came w/ my older iPods or iPhones or a 3rd party cable charging can take 7 hours from 20%.

Only kinda related, but charging via usb, I get about 8% an hour if the screen is off. I can't maintain a charge if the screen is on via usb.

Yeasterday i let my battery go down to 0% and it took it around 4 hours to get back to 100%.

Completely discharged the battery pluged it into my pc and within 30minutes I'm at 18% goin to bed now so guess I will never know how long it takes to get to 100%

Mine is roughly 1% every 2.5 minutes plugged into the wall. Every time I charge it comes out to be that so a full charge would be about 4 hours and 10 minutes.

Hmm...I didn't think of that.

Will the iPhone charge faster with the iPad charger?

Just charged to 100% again but this time at 17% I plugged it in and it took 4 hrs and 10 minutes with WiFi on and 3G turned off.

If your iPad 2 takes longer than 3-5 hours to fully charge, you have a faulty iPad

Not necessarily. It could be a bad charger or cable, not the iPad. Also 3-5 hour charge is only w/ supplied a/c charger and dock connector cable. If you use anything else it could be those items causing the slow charge & not the fault of the iPad. Older cables, esp. can cause slow charging.
