I sent my Mac in last week for repair. It arrived at my local Apple Store earlier this morning, but the Genius who I left my Mac with said they need to test the machine before giving it back.

Should I expect to get a phone call or can I just go and pick up my Mac since I know it arrived? How long does the "testing" usually take?

Thanks.

They will tell you when it is ready. Usually it is overnight if they're busy.

This information should be on your repair order.

The stores say they need to run the ASD software after receiving a computer. I have often wonder why they HAVE to do the ASD again. The oddest thing is they will not do it in front of the owner?

Called the store to see what's going on. It turns out that they're extremely busy (not surprised) and despite the shipment coming early in the morning, they won't be able to open and begin testing the computers until the store closes.

They said they'll call me tomorrow to pick it up.
