How long was it before the initial stocks ran out last year?

Thinking of getting the iPhone 6 64gb on T-mobile.
Just had a chat with the apple store guy online and he told me its unlocked for international use. Going to travel around 6 months in next 10 months so would like an unlocked phone.
So the question is, How long was it before the stocks ran out last year? ie the delivery got delayed further then the launch day.
That /might/ give a rough idea about how it would be this year.
I am leaving on 25th Sept. It would be a bummer if i miss it.

I think it was a less than a few hours for gold and silver, followed by space gray halfway through launch day...

There weren't any preorders for the 5S last year.

When I was online at 3a for the iPhone 5, I ordered a 32 GB space grey from apple.com at 3:15am-ish (website crashed a few times, IIRC). I believe by 4a-ish, the shipping date changed to 2 weeks later, for certain colors/GBs.

I guess the contract free phones might hold up for a longer while. But then the stocks would be less too! :|
