Hey,
I have a MacBook (white, early 2008) and it cannot run Mountain Lion (well, of course it can with hacks, but I'm a bit afraid because of updates and anyway, the last version I have of it is 10.8.4 and I think I can't update to 10.8.5)

So, now I'm running 10.7.5 as Snow Leopard will be unsupported soon (most probably) and I've decided to go with Lion on my Mac.
What concerns me a lot is that Apple gave Mavericks out for free and I think they're trying to make people to upgrade, so they can drop the support to older systems and so lots of people have to buy new Macs.

I have a PC (a desktop one) in 2001 and the funny thing is…It can run Windows 7.
It runs pretty well only aero effects and stuff like that isn't supported, but it runs.
When I tried running Leopard on my Mac in 2013, then it's already…you can feel how it's falling behind from the other OS, because it's unsupported now. Um, my question is if I can use my Mac for at least until 2018? Will Apple drop the support (security updates) earlier? Because I've been thinking to go with PC from now on because the PC's last longer in all ways and PC's are cheaper.

If I could use my Mac for at least 10 years (so it'd receive security updates), then I'd most probably go with a Mac again.
