I know that Apple gets to choose which iOS version we are allowed to install on our devices. Currently you can install both 6.1.3 and 7.0.

Does anyone know when Apple is likely to block 6.1.3 downgrades? I am currently testing 7.0 on my iPhone 4, but it's sluggishness is making me consider downgrading back to 6.1.3 for the time being. But when do I need to make the downgrade by?

You can downgrade whenever you like, it's just that apps may not function properly under the old OS once iOS7 becomes more popular.

I'd definitely make the decision before next Wednesday. I would imagine that as soon as 7.0 is officially in the wild, they'll stop signing for iOS 6.

I don't think this is correct. Didn't Apple block iOS 5 downgrades and there was a big hoohah over it?

Usually with a new OS, the window is about 2 days.

Immediately? When did they stop signing iOS 5?

Not quite. You can downgrade as long as Apple is still singing the older version for your device. So, once iOS 7 is publicly released, Apple will more than likely stop signing iOS 6 for devices that can upgrade to iOS 7, and that will be that.

It might be a day or two, but you should be ready for it to happen as soon as pretty much immediately.
