This is already the fourth iOS 5 beta. How many are typically released? How many more do you think will be released?

There has *never* been more than 4 betas although the gap between beta 4 and GM can be around a month. I still think were going to see 5 betas for the first time ever here, Beta 4 came only like 10 days after 3.

Even when a GM comes out to devs, it may be a week or two on top of that before the public gets it (as in Lion GM for example)

I'm thinking one more beta in the next two or three weeks and then the next generation iPhone is announced two weeks later.

For iOS 4, I believe there were 4 betas plus the GM version. Honestly, I expect an iPhone 5 revealing in three weeks.

My prediction:

iOS Beta 5: August 5
iOS 5 GM: August 16
iPhone 5 released: September 8

I updated to beta 4 and it feels like a released version of the software. My iPhone 4 has never ran this smoothly!!! its great.. The next release could very well be the GM seed

I don't know about you guys, but I still have major problems with Wi-Fi sync and iTunes. Probably something on my end, just annoying that it doesn't "just work" for me. :(

A little off, I must say.

Yeah, but if this is the last Beta before GM(doubtful), I'd look for a September 5th announcement of the iPhone 5(two weeks from tomorrow, four weeks one day from iOS 5 beta 5 release), with the GM being released that day or week.

Just a theory though.

September 5th is Labor Day though.

Not true. iOS 2 - 8 betas, iOS3 - 5 betas, iOS 4 - 4 betas.

I think we'll have 6 betas before the GM for iOS 5.

Well, I was off because everyone thought it was coming out in September. Now, everyone is saying October. I'll update it with a new October release prediction.
