Certainly my main reason, even though they're mainly anecdotes, but also some of the early benchmarks also showed this IIRC.

Instead of upgrading, I kept the 2010 Air for it's long battery life and cool operating temps. As seen in the attached screen shot, at the moment it still has 18:43 hours of battery life left!

Upgraded to Lion, then downgraded again after two weeks because of battery life, heat, and program compatibility.

I have a 2010 13" MBA...didn't think it was necessary to upgrade to the 2011 version.

I'm on Lion and haven't noticed a drop in battery life or any heat issues. I'm a student so I'm mostly just using Pages and/or Word and browsing the web. I still get more than 8 hours of battery, which is all I really need for my daily use. As long as I don't need to bring the power adapter along to class with me, I'm happy. :p

Get Lion! I have an 11' macbook air with 4go of ram (2010model) and it just feels great to play with the new osx. It saves you a lot of time with its better interface and easy access to apps.

I upgraded to Lion first day on my 2009 Air, and while the fan runs a little higher these days (used to idle around 1700, now around 2500) it doesn't actually seem any hotter, and the battery life is about the same.
