could every one with a beeping mbp please post to show APPLE this is a problem in the mbp's :mad::mad:

Beeping? Where is it coming from? Is it going to explode?

But a beeping computer is not good. Try reinstalling the OS. Full reinstalls normally solve everything, if not it must be a hardware problem. Apple will replace it.

for the 3 bad MBP's they have sent me.
However, I am not sure anyone will post this issue here. It has already been documented on Apple's discussion forums in 45 pages, and in about 10 pages on this forum.

Well excuse me. I have actually read threads about beeping and clicking hard drives. Glad I could help.

Got a brand new one last week and it beeps. I turned off the park HD in the energy settings and I haven't heard it since.

15" 2.66GHz model with the Seagate 500GB 7200RPM HDD upgrade (the ASG model). Had the beeping, turned off SMS and the beeping has stopped.

@#$%!

I had a 17", 3.06, 500GB@7200 with a Beep.

Replacement coming on Wednesday, hopefully with no beep.

I had one too...

Yes - this is a problem. MBP 17" machine was brand new and once it was used for several minutes the computer beeped and restarted. Then the graphics card blew... no more screen or picture to my desktop display. I phoned apple right away and they sent me a new computer within 2 days.

Great service. They acknowledged that their was a problem and ask me what they could do to further assist me as a valued customer.

Called them today about beeping, first guy was clueless so i asked to talk to someone else.

This guy made me put the OSX cd in, do a disk repair, no errors found, then turn it off do a shift/control/option hit the power button for a sec, wait 5 seconds then turn it back on, whatever that does.

I made a joke "is this what you tell people to just make them feel like they are doing something."

Guy had no sense of humor hehe.

Anyway still hearing beeps. I'm still well within my 14 day's of purchase, that is if the 14 days starts when it's received not ordered.

Besides that when i got this mac there was black MUCK on the rounded edges at the front, dirty bottom and a nice hairline scratch by the sleep light along with a nice fat dead pixel at the top of the display.

Dropping 3k and having these issues already is pretty sad.

I've got the beep as well. Apple needs to fix this asap.

A few tech-savvy people on the Apple forums seems to think this issue cannot ever be fixed with a software update. That Apple has probably determined this, and knows if they admit there's a fault, product recalls/replacements will need to follow at their expense.

What do you suggest? I'm in my 14 day window so probably best to figure this out now. Maybe exchange for a solid state or standard HD configuration?
