I thought I had all this permission stuff sorted. I changed everything in my application folder so that all my self installed programs are owned by me and the group is admin.

The owner (me, also an admin user) and Admin both have read and write permissions. Yet when I dropped an updated app into the folder and clicked 'replace' I still got a dialog box telling me I didn't have sufficient privileges!

Do you have sufficient privileges on the /Applications directory itself?

Yes,

I changed everything in the app folder at the app folder root level.

The app folder currently is owned by System and the group is Admin both are read/write

I wasn't even offered the opportunity to authenticate. It's not a major problem I just trashed the old app first then dropped it in, but I need to understand why this is happening because it shouldn't be.
