Given apple's recent affinity for buying up huge quantities of 4GB NAND flash memory chips (mostly for the iPhone, or so it is rumored), i was wondering how many chips are in the current nanos? are the 4gb models 4x1? If so does it make sense for the next gen to be 4x4 = 16gb?

there seems to be little news on the next gen iPods, yet its been a long time since they were updated.
