Seems like a ton of people have already purchased their 2011 MBP's. How many of you guys out of the people who have bought them upgraded from a MacBook Pro 2008,2009 or 2010 model? If so, why? Just wanted something faster or was it because your MBP was on it's last leg?

I'm considering it, but I'd be upgrading from a 2006 MacBook. Sure, I have a more powerful desktop available to me, but being always stuck behind a desk isn't appealing.

So far Lion is supposed to work only with Core 2 Duo or better, and mine is a Core Duo machine, so that's one reason to upgrade! :)

That's not too shabby at all. I'd say an upgrade from a 2006 model means you got your bucks worth.

I'm probably gonna stick with my 2010 model. Thunderbolt is nice, but it's still very, VERY new, and it's probably going to be a while before I would need it. In any case, this seems to be an interim connector, with a new version coming out later that has an optical interface, which the 2012 MBP will likely have.

Sooo... I think I'll wait till then.

Been debating this, you may notice I have my own thread. You ask if one is upgrading from an '08,'09, or '10 model, the sad thing is that they all pretty much have the same processor.
