I'm definitely planning to buy:

Aluminum Space Gray Sport w/ black sport band -- for the gym

Stainless Steel Apple Watch with Link Bracelet -- daily beater

...and maybe a rose gold Edition...depending on price.

If you have the money, more power to you. I think more then one is over kill but since apple is marketing this as a piece of jewelry, i.e., fashion, having different versions makes sense to those who have the cash to buy them.

How many people are buying multiple Apple Watches for themselves?

Geez you make it seem like everybody has a (rumored) few thousand laying around.
I have no need for an apple watch so I won't be buying any of them.

Probably not multiple watches, but multiple bands.

One stainless steel for casual wearing, and a sport band for activity.

I am going to buy at least the sport and the steel version launch day (extreme or normal outdoor / gym activites and formal occasions & work) because I am going to eventually give them as gifts to my siblings so we could use them right away (they cannot afford or may not be available right away on where they live).

A third purchase depends on the price and/or exclusivity on some functions of the gold Edition as a collection / home use only.

Ya no way I get two for myself. Maybe a few bands if prices are decent. If things are WAY cheaper than I expect perhaps one for the wife as well.

I'll be wanting the next iPhone as well as the 3rd Gen Air so I gotta pick and choose my spots.
