I myself am planning on paying the 779$ at the apple store tomorrow. Anyone else?

I paid £600 for my fully unlocked 32Gb from Apple.

Not worth being tied into a contract.

Paying $800 for a [sweet] cell phone, in my opinion, is crazy.

Depends, having a Unlocked, available to all networks iPhone is much better, also if you are planning to sell on upgrade.

In the UK, we have a Sim-Only 1 Month contract which offers a cheaper/on par deal to the contract, some people may like to pay a small fee upfront and sell your soul for 18/24 months, while others, like myself enjoy a choice to move if needed to.

Same. There's no freaking way I'd have bought the phone if it wasn't subsidized. Yes yes, Europeans pay blah blah blah....don't care. There's no phone on the planet worth $800. No, there's not.

I paid 600 for mine and have a 20 a month contract which is a 30day contract so I can Cancel anytime! Works out cheaper over 18 and 24 month by over 150 pounds and I'm not locked in hehe so next April/may I can sell this for top money lol

I bought my 3G at the early upgrade price since I was not eligible for four months. I wouldn't pay full price though. I am eligible for an upgrade now, but waiting for the white iPhone.

I paid $599 for 16gb iP4, sold 3GS for $370. Either way the phone is worth every penny and even much more. I remember paying $500+ for HTC/PPC phones that didn't work half the time! Let alone have Apps and full internet browsing.

I can't justify paying that much for an iPhone. I would just wait until I qualify for the subsidized price.

Wait a minute:

do you guys really think you don't pay full price when your phone is "kindly" subsidized?

LOL

i payed $213 for mine 16gb iPhone 4.
no upgrade fee or anything just payed for the phone and taxes.
mind you my contract with att before upgrade was supposed to end on
February 2011.

Doesn't make sense to me to buy outright. In canada you have the big three companies and each one of them carry the iPhone. I've been with Telus since my very first cell phone. no reason to switch carriers as all the other ones have pretty much the same plans and/or they can give you something close.

Whether it's subsidized or bought outright my bills will still be close to $100 a month and I can buy an iPad with the difference.

I can maybe see folks outside the US where there are several providers on which to use the iPhone buying one without a contract.

But in the US? What good is the phone without Data? You need to have the service ATT provides (as crappy as it is) in order to fully use the phone so whats the upside other then really wanting one and not being eligible for upgrade.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not one to tell people how to spend his or her money and god knows I'm not very smart when it comes to spending my own, but even I had to take pause when the 3GS came out and I wasn't able to upgrade.
