Ok, so this is completely random, but I thought I'd see some interesting respones from it, so here goes. Simply choose the option that best fits you. An explanation or reason would help too, but that's all up to you:)

40, the max (I think). Why? I don't mind scrolling, I guess. Makes those mega-threads seem shorter when reading them. ;)

30. Default's too few, and I haven't gotten accustomed to 40 yet. S'pose I'll end up there sooner rather than later.

You can change it?

I haven't really messed around with the CP that much, so that's why I never saw that option.

If I were to change it, I'd put it to 50 (if that's an option) but it's fine the way it is now (25).

I just leave it at the default of 25, because I see no reason to change it.
Whoops...I forgot about the default number:eek:

I use this reasoning too. On a side note, could you help me edit the number of poll options? I'd like to add 25/default as one option. Sorry for the trouble.

With a large setting, text posts are OK, but in a "picture" thread, like the desktop pictures threads, it can take longer to render a page with a lot of images on it.

That's true, but most of the threads are mostly text, so I choose 40. I guess I'm too lazy to click "next page" over and over:p

I'd have 9 answer displayed on my screen here and 12 on my bigger TFT. Which means that it should be dynamic.

Yes. Everyone should have the control over those little things that make your forum life much more comfortable.

Tried 40 for a while (back when I discovered the option), but soon went back to 25... seems like a nice compromise between page loading, scrolling and "next page-clicking", IMO...

it's set to 40 right now, but i think 50 would be the right number...at least on my mac anyway. on the iphone, however, 25 might be just right.

That is my reasoning to, I like to look at the picture of the day thread and that would take way to long to load with more posts per page. but I would like it slightly longer on text ones is there any way to specify for different forums the ammount of posts shown?

40 for me but I'd like an option to take it to 50.

One thing that I would like is the option to go straight to the first unread post automatically when I click on a thread title rather than trying to figure out which page I was on, or clicking in and then using the 'Go to first unread' option. It took some getting used to in another forum but now I really like it as a feature.

That's what this guy does: firstnew.gif

I know... but you have to be in the thread to use that. I'd like to to happen automatically.

No, it works anywhere you see threads...forum indexes, "New Posts" searches, subscribed threads, etc. (Although Forum Spy is the opposite...clicking the thread takes you to the post in question, while the icon to the left of the thread title takes you to the first post in the thread.)

Or am I misunderstanding what you're talking about?

Ah hah! Gotcha now... when I did New Posts to see what you were talking about, there weren't any on the threads. Now I see what you mean...<doh!>

Cool... now I'm happy! :D

Hmm. Interesting reults so far. It seems that many people would like to have more than 40 post per page, and a few others would also like to have the number vary depending on device/display that is being used.

Out of curiosity, would it be hard for Arn to up the posts per page limit, or is it something no one really thinks is all that important?

Yeah I have it at 25 too, but now with dsl and faster loading times I may bump it up to 40.. I can't stand when there is only 10 posts on one page :D

Arn selected the options we have: 5, 10, 20, 25, 30, or 40.

Yes, he could change it if he wanted to.
