remember way back in the day when 10,000 songs was the hottest thing? lol

A little over 96.3GB in my iTunes library on the lappy (none of it legal --- that'd be $15,000+from the ITS!)

and only15gb on the ipod

8000+ for me, plus a hundred or so audiobooks that I don't store on my computer (they're archived to discs since they aren't frequently used). It's a mix of legal and a some not-so-legal stuff, but by and large mostly CD rips. It's also a mix of my wife and my collections (most of it is overlapping, but we both keep the entire set on our computers as a backup).

1450 in Library
515 in the playlist that I actually listen to
And I didn't even have to round those numbers off, iTunes must have caught my OCD

Just over 24,000 of all assorted genres. Takes up over 130 gig on my 250 gig MBP. As for the origins of this vast amount? Umm...we won't go there. *innocent whistle*

Number of Songs

I have 6130 songs of all genre , 16.8 days of total play, 23.17 gigabytes Note a single duplication of any song by the same artist but it is amazing how may artist do the same songs.

This is really hard to do, especially when you have an artist who releases numerous CDs and then a greatest hits CD and then is an artist on a compilation CD. I run into that problem a lot with my collection, but I refuse to delete tracks from whole CDs and have an "incomplete" collection. I'm retentive about that. I'm OCD when it comes to tagging, and have scoured AppleScript websites to find some that help me along. I love having a mac!

I agree and forgot to mention in most cases I keep the live versions or the extended versions of the songs as duplicates only if they are good but understand that if you are paying for them you might not wish to delete any of them. I listen to music all the time I am home and have the computer playing in the background. Hope all are smart enough to have backup!! Have a Merry Christmas and happy new year. I love my Mac too!!!
