I am preparing to purchase a 15" macbook pro. I believe the memory is DDR2 667 (PC2 5300).

With that being said I understand that memory can be purchased much cheaper elsewhere.

Does the 2GB option come with 2x1gb sticks of memory, or 1x2gb stick? I know that it's important to match memory, but I am still curious.

Thanks so much.

It's not actually particularly important to match memory, the gains on the MacBook Pro are minimal (6%-8% maybe)

The Patriots at $169? not so much. DMS is better at $130 a pair or $150 a pair, they guarantee compatibility, and pay shipping if there are any DOAs

6-8% isn't too bad, but I think for the 69$ price difference, I'll just purchased the 2x2gb matched pair and sell the factory memory on eBay.

It's sure a lot cheaper than a 700$ upgrade? How do they justify that?
