I am thinking about buying Better Touch Tool. I am curious how many of use it or a similar app, and what do you have it configured to do?

Also, is there any issue with applications that also use the TouchBar, ex. PowerPoint or Adobe?

I use it on a daily basis.

I have Cntrl+Shift+(Left/Right/Up/Down/.) mapped to different window resizing functions (left maximize, right maximize, maximize on this screen, maximize on next screen, etc) on my iMac.

On my MacBook Pro I have the same functions configured to maximize on left two thirds and right two thirds to make better use of space.

I use it with the goldenchaos presets. Highly recommended! I like how it gives me easy access to brightness, volume, playback controls etc, quite similar to the old f-keys

I use Pock. It’s free and quicker to set up than BTT. It doesn’t have as many features, but it does exactly what I wanted BTT to do anyway.

I tried Pock, but it couldn’t salvage utility from the TB for me. IMO there’s just no useful purpose of a touch screen that displays information and takes actions for things that take place on a different screen.

I get the concept, but I think that in practice the TB is as useless/useful as the row of function keys it replaced. Maybe Apple will just get rid of them altogether sometime (kidding...or am I 😛)

Apple, with all its resources, can't seem to fix the issues that have been there across several OSX versions. Something as basic as remembering the screen position and size of an app has been broken for years now. BTT has solved this for me by allowing shortcuts to save and recall the layout of all my apps.

There's a lot of useful stuff in BTT. I don't run many utilities, but this I consider an essential one.

Especially Finder. Ever since 2001 OS X has this bug screen position bug. Sometimes fixed, then broken again. But Windows has it also sometimes if that is any consolation.

Are there any BTT scripts that simply remove the gray 'button' box that surrounds each control strip function icon?

I would just like to see the brightness, volume, and all other icons against all black, not surrounded by that fake button-like gray box.

BTT is a bit overwhelming, and I've not seen one that has simplistic preset options like this.
