the sales dude at teh local 24 hour fitness said he can give me $40/month + 1st and last months, no contract and at all clubs.

i've heard some people are paying like $20/YEAR at 24. how did they make that happen?

There's varying plans but generally the ones where you're paying a ridiculously low monthly payment is because you're required to put up a lot of money up front(five years ago a buddy of mine put up $1000 up front and now he pays $8 a month for the rest of his life, but must pay $20 a year to renew).

i'm on a free 3-month pass but i've already spent $650 on 10 training sessions. you think they can do better than $40/month?

I pay something like $95 a year. But I had to initially pay $400 for the first 3 years.

My benefits plan covers most of my gym membership. I pay something like $8 per pay period? I'm not sure as it gets deducted straight off each stub, and all the paperwork is taken care of for me.

I sea what you did there.

Dunno how much I pay for mine, it's part of my apartment rent, lol. Decent gym, believe it or not.

$90 a month for a family plan at the local YMCA

I wish they stayed open later though

$30 CAD / semester (4 months) at the university. I think they actually charge more than that but it's part of the tuition fee.

£22 a month for access to 6 gyms in the Manchester area. They are all run by the local council so they are pretty cheap compared to the privately owned places.

Australian $64 a month. I'm on a cheaper membership because of my health fund. I'm with Fitness First

£65 a month with LA Fitness at their 'flagship' branch so you can use any of the others. It's a corporate rate. But it's a lovely gym. The classes are all included in the rate, they've got a pool that's big enough to do lengths in, a steamroom, sauna etc, nice locker-rooms and enough machines that I rarely have to hang around waiting for one to come free - 12 treadmills, 6 cardio waves, multiple bikes (upright and recumbent), cross trainers, power plates and lots of resistance machines and free weights. You get a free training one to one every 6 weeks or so to review your program too.

It's also got a spa attached which is sadly is v pricy but to be expected in the middle of Chelsea/Kensington.
