Was considering using my LTE to tether to play games like Battlefield 3 and what not when I'm at my friend's house from time to time. He's got a crappy 1mb connection that is rather inconsistent. If tethering for a game uses a lot, I'll certainly not tether for it of course. Data is kinda precious.

Theres honestly no way to answer that or even give any kind of useful range.

It depends on the game. Some games download lots of data to your machine, others do not. Theres really no way to answer.
 
Online gaming is more about your ping/latency than bandwidth. I work in the industry and the typical bandwidth for a fps game is very low.
