Right now, I have a 2009 MBP with 2.66 core 2 duo and the 256MB 9600gt. I am looking to buy a 17 inch i5 with the 512MB 330m. With regards to gaming under bootcamp, how much better is the 330m to the 9600gt? Will I notice a big difference in my games or will it be barely noticeable? I tried to play black ops under bootcamp and it was barely playable. Thanks to anyone who can help!

The 330M will probably be replaced in the next MBP revision which is coming very soon. It will likely be replaced with a new ATI chip which will offer substantial improvement over both the 9600GT and the 330M.

I'd just wait a month or two.

Based on your advice, I will wait then. I'm trying to get something that is going to last me at least 3 years and I know if I can afford one now, I will be able to afford one in a couple months. Thanks again!

It's a big difference. The 330m is 50% faster than the 9600gt.

I'm sure it will take more than 2 months - more like 4-5 (based on historical release dates)

Which Ati card will be in the next MBP?

No idea. Maybe like an ATI 6730 or something. Or perhaps an ATI 5650 consideringn how Apple is usually old tech.

edit: But I go against all the rumors of an ATI card and thinking there will be an GTX 425m. My reason for this is because Sony did the same, they went from the 330m to the 425m.
