My old Dell is getting to be on it's last legs. I've been planning on waiting to get a refurb. Question is how much cheaper are they than new. The ones on there now are substantial but I imagine that's because they are now a model year old. How much of a difference are we talking historically once the new generation starts coming out in refurbs. (Classic series, not Retina)

About $200

15% seems to be typical for current generation items (checking iMac and Tbolt Display).

I noted that there are still no current generation iPads, so you could have a fair wait ahead of you for a current generation MacBook.
