I have asked about elsewhere, but am looking for more real-life experiences. Perhaps you folks have experience to share…

Whilst driving (in the US) & using Google or Apple Maps, about how much data are used per hour? I know there are many variables, but it seems there should be some historical data, at least for guesstimating purposes.

Soon, I’ll be driving for many days, and I haven’t a clue as to what I’m letting myself in for each hour of Maps/GPS use.

Musings & guesses most welcome.

I suppose most (or many) of those who happened by either have one of the "unlimited plans" and so don't fuss with such detail, or merely never bothered to capture the data I seek; 'tis understandable.

Still, my thanks to those to visited this thread. In about 2 weeks, I'll post my findings, so that if/when some other hapless soul wanders by, at least there will a data point.

A somewhat similar thread from not too long ago might be of some help:

An interesting read, thanks!

I mainly use Google Maps, so that is my immediate interest, but perhaps some savvy chap or chapette will do a truly objective study comparing data/rate consumption re Google vs. Apple maps.

From what homework I've done, it seems I'll use about 7Mb per hour, but as the info is old and imprecise, I suspect I could be off by orders of magnitude.
