My iPhone is starting to get a bit tatty...the power/standby button sometimes doesn't work, but I really don't want to get an iPhone 3g. I am completely happy with the speed and solid build of the original. First, I would like to know if it is possible, as with other Apple products to get a cheap out of warranty replacement, and also how much this costs in the UK? Thanks :D

You'd have to get one used or second hand. Apple and the mobile providers do not offer the first-gen iPhones outside of warranty replacement. Very rarely Apple will put refurbs up on the refurb page, but they usually sell out almost instantly.

Ok thanks. But do Apple do out of warranty repairs on 2g?

Once in a while apple will sell them without a contract for a $149.00 at the apple store online, but they go quick.
