I was supposed to get my iPhone 3G yesterday put I didn't know that a Credit Card was required (waited 2hrs for that) so know I have to wait till Saturday. When I was at the Apple Store I saw a case that wanted as well. Now, my question is how will it cost for me to get the iPhone 3G 16Gb, 69.99 plan or 89.99 plan, and a 29.99 case?? My credit is good if that matters. I live in Los Angeles, CA. I think the tax is 8.25% but I am not sure.

$300 for iPhone + ($70 x 24months) or $1680 + $30 case = approx $2010 for a 2 year contract

with the other plan it reaches $2490 over 2 years

Jumpin jesus on a pogo stick...
This is basic effing math people
A) $199 or $299 * local/state/county tax =$iPhone cost
B) Service pkg of your choice = $Service pkg cost
C) Case for phone $29.xx * local/state/county tax =$case cost

To walk out the store you will need to be able to pay for A + C in cash/credit/debit/Gift Card

B will be billed to you along with a $18 activation fee unless you talked them out of it.

So take B * 24 + A+C = TCO

How much did the iPhone cost you guys for the 16GB plus tax?

Anyone can answer, but people from NYC or LI would be better.

youre paying tax on the price of an unsubsidized iphone

also how are people able to sign up for this forum let alone post

Jumpin jesus on a pogo stick newyorksole are you not capable of doing the math?
A) $299 * local/state/county tax =$iPhone cost

Service plans very so thats a wild card but A remains a constant.

btw youre paying tax on the price of a unsubsidized iphone

Thats a negative for people in Florida or at least Brevard county.
I've seen receipts showing $199 + 0.06% tax rate = $210.94 and
$299 + 0.06% tax rate = $316.94

Must suck to get screwed by your state/county at every turn.:D

:( lol I mean the day I found out the price of the iPhone I factored in the tax and came up with $324, but I just wanted to make sure lol

strange my receipt from the apple store, in CA, shows:

Sub-total 199.00
Tax@8.25%

Total $231.92

i want my 20 or so bucks back.

EDIT:

I guess it's a california law and not apple / att's fault - http://www.boe.ca.gov/pdf/pub120.pdf

Do they atleast use lube or make a sammich for you? We know they don't respect us already :D
When will tax be charged on the full sales price?
If you purchase a cell phone at a discount and also are required to purchase
a service contract, you may be charged for tax on the full sales price of the
phone, not the discounted price you paid. Even if the phone is free, you may
still be charged for tax on what the phone’s sales price would have been without the service contract.
