Someone I know has an ibook g4 1.33/40 GB (maybe 60) / 512 Ram/ Wireless card with a bad logic board. They are asking $200. Is this worth buying to tinker with? I see logic boards from 250-400 but what I am hoping for is might just need the fix that is talked about. (loose processor chip or something) Any advice would be appreciated!

a logic board for a macbook is around $850

so for an ibook...around id say 700+ at least

so for about $1000 you can have a iBook?

why not buy a macbook rehurb?

or a working iBook/Titanium Powerbook

I just got more info on this. Sometimes it boots up fine and sometimes it does not. Could this be the solder reflow problem?

I have no idea, but do NOT buy it. As mentioned earlier, a replacement logic board costs more than the computer is worth. In vehicle terms, that means it is "totaled."

Best thing to do is sell it for parts, and I'm not sure if you could make up the $200.
