Doesn't Snow Leopard display sizes differently now?
YES! It's important to note that Apple now calculates based on the "1 GB = 1000 MBs" rather than the older "1GB = 1024MBs".

Thus, a flash drive that says "8GBs" on the package will now display as "8GBs" in Finder.

question i have been wondering is, would you get that hard drive space back even if you didn't do a clean install? Thats my worry, im thinking that you would only get that HD space back if you do a clean install is that true?
