its the first model with the retina screen.
I find that with an ultrabook and 6 plus, my ipad 3 is getting no love. might as well sell it before it depreciates further.

I was surprised by how much Best Buy gave me for trade in. They gave me 185 on a gift card for my iPad 3 32GB cellular VZ. I didn't want to deal with a private party. Mine was mint, too.

You can get more for them pre iOS 7 on Ebay. I still have mine on iOS 5 and still use it and won't part with it. :)

I got the same for a 32GB wifi and I'm pretty sure they're both worth at least $75 more.

The issue with trading in is they treat cellular and wifi models almost the same. You are paying a $129 premium for cellular model but ur trade in nets u close to the wifi model.

Same with those who have the 32gb/64gb. U pay the extra $100/200 for those extra GB. But ur trade in reflects close to those with base 16gb model.

I tried selling my 3 on Craigslist (32GB/LTE). The most I could get for it was $250.

I put mine up for sale on the trading post @ work and got £180 ($288) for it; engraved with a very cheeky comment & my name:p gosh what was i thinking

I skipped the engraving part when i bought my Air 2:D

Having a hard time getting $240 for my 32GB iPad 3 on craigslist. One or two emails a day, but no takers yet. Best buy is offering $185. I may go that route soon if I don't sell it.

Handed down my 64gb wifi 3 to mom and she's finding it a bit too big and heavy. Wish I would have traded in for the $235 while best buy still had the promo.

I got $300 for my 32 GB wifi in a local sale a few weeks ago. Made the decision to upgrade to the Air 2 an easy one.

You got about %25 trade-in value of the device original price ($729+tax if applicable) after about 2 or so years - less % if you paid tax.
In my opinion that isn't a great deal, but considering that Gazelle pays even less (I think about 120-130$) I can't say it was a horrible deal.

I sold my 32GB iPad 3 on ebay

For $257 dollars, but that included cases, mounts and Adonit Jot and other accessories.

It's a two and a half year old device that's now FOUR generations old.

Air 2
Air
iPad 4
IPad 3

$185 with no hassles with private party and no mail in junk...and no eBay! I have no problem with that. Try to sell a galaxy tablet that's four generations old.

I got $160 Amazon credit for my 16gb WiFi-only iPad3. Totally worth the no hassle, etc of trying to actually sell it.

Only 160?! You didnt have any other uses for it?

I kept my old iPad 1, it cant do as much as my air 2, but it will always be valued more to me than what I could get for it. Even if its just used as a picture frame. Once an iPad drops below $250 in resale value, I just keep it.
