my family plan when I bought 2 iphones 3g 16gb for me and my brother was 700mins($70), 200 sms($5) for me, 1500 sms($15) for my brother, 2x data plan($60).
Then we changed plan to lower minutes (550mins).
Guess how much is my 1st AT&T bill charges?

Current Payment & Charges
Last Payment Received $0.00
Current Account Balance $384.80
AutoPay to be Applied: 08/23/2008.

It's twice than its supposed to be.
Found that they charged extra 1 month infront if we change plan.(they call it "deposit") which will be returned when we close our account.
When I asked the AT&T store they said there wont be any charges if we want to change plan. But actually, there is extra "deposit" payment as u all can see in current account balance.
Becareful if you wanto change your plan!!

This is normal. You are paying for last month and next month. All bills going forward will be for the next month's service, plus any overages or extra charges from the previous month.

If you would have been so kind as to do a search of the forums, you would have found this answer a dozen times.

TEG

2 phone family plan with 200 texts each: $303
They prorate the first month, and charge you for the next month. You always pay a month in advance. Next month should be a "normal" bill.

I'm confused as to why so many people have problems with cell phone bills. AT&T gave me a sheet of paper telling me exactly what my first bill would be, and what the bill will be after my first month. When i received my first bill it was exactly what they said it would be.

I'm confused by all the confusion too, and I didn't get any sheet from AT&T when I activated.

But I can read.

AT&T gave me nothing except a warning about the $36 activiation fee, but I pretty much expected everything I saw except one thing -- that the SMS plans do not cover international SMS messages (my old carrier had unlimited SMS as part of the $20 data plan, and didn't charge for international SMS either).

That said, my first bill was $195, and I expect the normal bill to be just over $85 per month.

3 iphones, minimum family plan 129.99, extra line 39.99, unlimited domestic texting 30.00, 2x 100 international text packages 2x 9.99, 2x world connect discounted international calling 2x 3.99.

36, 26, 26 in activation fees.

30 in taxes and fees.

all that adds up to 486 for the first month... should be about 260 every month afterwards.

$113.67.

450 minutes and no text messaging

$79.32 monthly service charge for 4 days + 1 month
$36 activation fee
$10.25 in fees and taxes

-$11.90 "national account discount"

original iPhone & 3G iphone White - 700 minutes, Family talk line, unlimited text, unlimited nights and weekends, unlimited mobile to mobile ( AT&T ) $178 first months bill. should go down next month.
