Hi guys,
I got my new aluminium MBP four days ago and have been wondering why it takes too much RAM as "wired memory". After a restart, it already takes up around 450 MB. And It can go up to around 600 MB after I opened three applications. Does this happen to yours, too?

I got 15" Macbook Pro, 2.53 Ghz processor with 4 GB memory.

Also, when I calculate "My Process" in the Activity Monitor, the sum of the memory I use doesn't add up to the total "Active" memory indicator.

Please kindly share your information.

Many thanks!

Um... Thats not much?

Um i'm wondering if i should take back my mac now
Cuz when running no applications i use 900mb of Wired ram
and when adding up all the used ram (Wired, Active,Free etc.)
i only get 3.75 GB when i should have 4
so basically i paid for an extra 2 GB ram that i don't use

Should i take it back?
