How much memory will video take?

I am thinking about getting a 3GS for it's video. It should be just the thing for our holiday next month.

How much memory will the video take as in minutes per gig? Also what are the options for getting the video off without plugging into itunes?

When you are travelling it's not always easy to find a computer to use. Could one of those mini hard disks be a possibility?

I am thinking the quality of the video should be as good as my old mini DV. Am I being realistic or expecting too much???

I don't think that video quality of the new iPhone will surpass miniDV standard. It will be even crapier what point and shoot camera can do at this moment...
