If it's not connected to a wifi network will it continually search for a network to connect to? Will this use a lot more battery or is it better to leave it on for the convenience of not having to go into settings all the time to turn wifi on?

Curious too. I want iCloud to Autobackup for me but don't wannaeave it on all say because my home is only wifi I use

Having wifi on is not going to use enough battery to warrent turning it off when not in use. If you're not having battery problems, why turn off part of the functionality of the phone?

I heard on here if you're only using it briefly it might kill battery having it on all day

Mine is on all the time, tried keeping it turned off when not on a wifi, did not notice any difference.

I'll leave mine all day and See if I notice a difference. My safari should be faster too

I keep mine on all day, difference in battery life is negligible.

When I'm at home and on WiFi, I actually see that I consumer less power than if I were on 3G at home.

WiFi uses extra battery power. Exact % I don't now. However I can say that as your Iphone gets older and the battery gets weaker, the WiFi usage becomes much more obvious.
