How much noise does a Synology DS213j NAS make?

I am just about to buy my fist NAS and I am just wondering how much noise it makes? Does it make more noise than say a Macbook Pro 13?

This is what it says in the specifications. That's really quiet.

Considering it has a passive power supply (no fan) and only one 92mm system fan, the system itself is going to be silent. The loudest part will be the hard drive (spinning and moving the heads).

That's pretty much all I hear out of my DS210j. I have it sitting on top of the desk hutch so its not that far from me.

Also it depends what harddrives you put in it. I have 2 WD Red in my 413+ and it's very quiet. I added a 7200rpm hdd in it for fun and that hdd was super noisy, including annoying clicking sounds.

You can also set the fan turn on for the Synology. It can be quiet until it gets to a higher temperature, if thats what you want. Then ist just the disk drive noise.
