Im looking into saving money on my next macbook pro with touch bar 15 inch 2017 model purchase.
im wondering if for 4k video editing, is there a big difference between the radeon 550 with 2gb vs the radeon 560 with 4gb ?
My main editing machine is the new imac 27 with radeon 580 which does a very good job.
just looking for a money efficient video editing machine on the go...

P.S
im working with very large files

Thanks

I wholeheartedly agree with this assessment. The upgrade on the base model from RP 555 to 560 is $100. The difference in performance easily justifies that limited cost.

It's a $250 Difference but thats off education pricing.

Where I live, there is no apple store.
Only authorized apple resellers, and the price difference between the base model, and the model with 560, is 500$....
This is why i want to know, how much of a big difference is there between the 555 vs the 560 for video editing.
I dont mind to wait an extra minute for exporting, im wondering if the 560 renders MUCH faster in real time, which will make my 4k timeline workflow much faster?

I am in the US, so maybe it is different, but when I go to Apple.com and select the base model with the RP 560, it is only a $100 option. If I sign into the education store, the upgrade from RP 555 to 560 is only a $90 option.

I am configuring a base model, not moving up to the higher end stock configuration, which also has a faster CPU and double the SSD storage (in addition to the RP 560).

Get the 560 if at all possible.

I am in the us as well. Didn't realize you can get the 560 in it. Didn't want to wait for a built to order one.

Yeah, some of the CTO options push the shipping date back a few weeks... only downside.

So get them at a retailer who got them in stock anyway? I bought a CTO configuration and got 24hrs shipping from a big retailer instead of waiting two weeks. I really do not understand why people does have often ordered configurations in stock, that is really ridiculous.

True... some online retailers stock some CTO options. B&H Photo is one of them. Most brick and mortar stores (Best Buy, Micro Center, etc) only carry the stock configurations.
