I have a mid 2009 Macbook Pro 5,1

2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor

Running 10.10.2 (Yosemite)

One of my RAM memory slots has gone bad and won't work with any slots

my question is this: What is the maximum amount of memory the one good slot can take? I know it can take 4GB, but could it take 8GB?

Thank yoU!
