Hi people, I wonder if you could answer this question for me.

I remember hearing a while ago that the 9400M in the Macbook uses 256mb of system RAM. But I also remember hearing that if you up your RAM to 4GB it doubles the amount of RAM the 9400M uses to 512mb. Or it could have been that if you only have 1GB system RAM the amount the 9400M takes up is halved to 128mb.

Could anyone shed any light on this?
 
Assuming it's the same as the new MacMini, engadget tested it and found this:

If you have 1GB, it'll only use 128mb. If you have 2gb, it'll use up to 256mb.
If you upgrade to 4GB, it'll still only use up to 256mb of the available RAM.
 
I don't know if it's possible... but in the future they need to make it user controllable...

As it is now, the system automatically adjusts how much memory goes to the 9400M as needed. I've never run into an issue with that setup, but YMMV.
