I currently have an old Mac Pro with 16gbs ram as i learn blender. For the time being its a hobby but could turn into a part time job in the future. I just started using 16k HDRIs for the backgrounds and noticed a big jump in ram usage. The plan with my current project is to render a movie at 4k. Im saving for a Mac Studio. Will 32gb ram be enough in the Studio or do i need 64gb? I dont want to spend more than i have to.

I use a studio M1 Max for photo projects and I can tell 32 GB RAM is the minimum required, but you should also consider the GPU cores. And, by the way, with non-upgradability Macs of today, “not spend more than I have to” is not a good policy anymore!

From the below article, it looks like if you're just using Blender, 32GB will be enough. However, if you decided to work on some other memory-hungry applications at the same time, you'll need 64GB.

I will go with 32gb, thanks for the replys. I will consider more GPU cores since rendering is GPU.
