How much RAM?

Hi all,

I am slightly confused.
I have an early 2011 i7 15inch MBP with the standard Apple RAM of 4Gb. I was looking on the crucial UK site at RAM upgrades and thought that the max I could go to was 8Gb. However the site is offering to sell me an upgrade up to 16Gb.

Can someone please confirm how much RAM I can actually install and use. I know that sometimes you can install more than the MBP will be able to use so will lose some of the capacity.

8 GB is fine. I find little, current, use beyond 8 GB to be honest. When 8 GB is so cheap, why not?

You could install 16 GBs using two 8 GB sticks, but 8 GB sticks are quite expensive right now.

I don't think you'll need the 16GB anytime soon...8GB is more than enough!
