Hi, i'm getting a 12" pb. how much ram would u guys say is enough?

Yeah, quite seriously, as much as you can afford. On my 15" I am getting 1.5GB of RAM, and although this isn't an option for the 12" (Only supports up to 1.25GB) I'm just trying to say, as much as you can afford. Keep in mind though, Apple overcharges on the RAM and your better off buying the RAM from elsewhere if you feel comfortable installing it.

Cheers,

depends on usage, in general...light usage (internet browsing, emailing) 512 will be just fine. But the saying is, the more the merrier, so get as much as you can.

I got a 12" ibook a few weeks ago. It runs "great" on it's preinstalled 512MB, meaning that it works fine for me doing the regular internet, itunes, chatting, etc. BUT, Whenever I have the extra money I plan on buying another 512MB stick. I think that another 512 is the best option for most users. However if you have soo much cash that you don't know what to do with it than max it out.

i've built many computers in the past so i have no problem isntalling it. i just don't know how on a mac. anyone have a guide?

what do you plan to do on your powerbook. if all you do is surf the internet and email. you don't need much.

Very good guide here here. It's not that hard.

And like others have said, the more the merrier.

I would recommend at least 1 GB of RAM. You will notice improved performance. Good luck.
