Since I'm getting a iPhone 4, I would like to sell my 3GS.
It has a few scratches on the back of it, but these pictures kinda make it look a little worse than it is...

How much should I sell it for?

this is mine after almost a year with no case and I got $365. You may have some difficulty ;)

All I had on the back was gaffer tape. Ugly sure, but obviously effective.

I also had EVERYTHING, the little plastics, even the shrinkwrap it came in:

With all those scratches? $98.

(remember, someone can buy a brand new 8GB 3GS for $99)

My 3G (yes, 3G, and two years old) only has two scratches. Yes, I used it; and didn't treat it like a glass figurine. But, I had a rubber protective case around it. It looks like new.

Good Luck though!

I sold mine to gazelle.com Seconds after the WWDC announcement I went on there and did a trade in... I have a 32gb 3gs and they offered $314. They lock in the price for thirty days... I got $137 for my girlfriends 8gb 3g. So when I get new phones on the 24th I'll just mail these off and they old phones practically pay for the new ones! I've used them before... they even pay for shipping and packaging. They sometimes have an extra 5% or 10% promo code floating around too.

On a contract. non contract price is still 4-500 depending on location.

I would say 300-400 on craigslist/ebay.

I just sold an 8gb 3G for 300 (here in canada)

Damn, lol, guess I shoulda put a case on it.

I just don't care for phone cases. They bug me.

Disappointingly, most of those marks/scratches came from dropping the phone just a few weeks ago. Bad timing I guess.

Hardly.

That brand new 8GB 3GS is $99 with a two year contract. The two year contract locks you into paying $65 a month for at least a year, or the $375 ETF, or paying the full freight for an off-contract iPhone. The hidden cost is immense.

I sold my 32 GB 3GS for $450 on Craigslist a week ago, and it was in about the same condition as yours. Check what the market will bear by doing a search on Craigslist or Ebay. There are plenty of people who want to buy because they don't want to get locked into a contract, don't have the credit rating, or just want to use another wireless provider.

I got 350 for my unlocked 16gb 3gs on criagslist, not bad. The guy who bought mine was gonna use it for t-mobile. Sp price depends if it is unlocked or not. If your baseband is to high to unlock, then just wait until the 24th when the unlock for iOS4 comes out.

Sold my 3GS 16GB for $320. I kept it in a Rebel Scholar case from the whole year i had it. It was in mint condition.

Will be throwing mine out there next Friday. I sold my 16gb 1st gen iphone for $325 (unlocked/jailbroken/perfect condition) when the 3GS came out. Was going to throw out $350 for my 32gb 3GS with bodyguardz on, incipio feather case, osir CF case, and all original box with stuff still in the wrapping. phone looks as good as new and is unlocked/jailbroken.

I sold a 8GB iphone 3G on craigslist a week ago for $300. Sold my wifes 16GB model 5 days ago for $270 (had some pretty good scratched on it) and 2 days ago my friend sold his 16GB model ( really beat up on the back) for $275.

The value in your phone is those on t-mobile who cannot get the iphone. They continue to pay a premium. Check your local craigslist to judge the price, but Id say $137 was definately too cheap!
