While at the Apple Store in Midtown I checked out the Macbooks... I'm assuming they were stock, but the 60GB models only had 22GB free!

To free up about 15gb's of space you can delete GarageBand, iDVD and iMovie if you dont need them they all use alot of GB's....
You will need to totally delete them in order to free up all the space, may I reccomend AppZapper it offers 5 free software installations in the trial version I reccomend you put them to good use...
