I already have a Bootcamp partition on my iMac, but thinking of getting Parallels for convenience instead of having to reboot every time. Going to try the free trial soon, but before I do, just asking how much space does a Parallels VM need?

The system requirements mention 500MB for Parallels itself and 15GB for the VM? But what if I import my Bootcamp partition into Parallels? My Bootcamp partition is over 100GB (installed a few games on there), and not sure my hard drive has enough room left for another partition of that size. I could just delete a few files or move them to an external HD to make room, but checking first if I need to make that much room.

Probably going to isolate the Parallels version just in case too, but it should still be backed up by Time Machine, right? Although the snapshot will probably take up more room on my Time Machine hard drive, but that one still has plenty of room at least, I think.

Oh yeah, Parallels 8 probably isn't going to be out for a while, right? Just making sure I don't end up buying it right before an upgrade.
