Hi

Does anyone know how much it costs to replace Apple Watch screen

Also is it worth getting AppleCare first?

My wife dropped it and really did a number on it

It's $419 for an out of warranty repair mate

You may be able to purchase apple care over the phone if your still inside the window. If your not then your out of luck.

PS I'm from the UK

Sorry about your wifes watch, same happened to me.

apple repaired my Sport screen for £100 but I had to go instore and 'negotiate'.
apple Phone support were not as helpful they wanted around £180 apple out of warranty repair, big difference.

Your wife watch would not qualify for apple care+ after the repair, but _should_ be factory fresh (they take band off) and it'll take 10 days.

Are you near an apple store?

How much is the 'excess' on your home content insurance?

Dont even think about getting apple care+ on your wifes watch, it would involve lying about it being okay which I'm sure you wouldn't do for obvious reasons!

sorry didn't realise it was your watch! your wife must be really upset, it is so easy for this to happen, I dropped mine from a few feet & it completly smashed the screen.

Yes holiday insurance should cover you, bare in mind the cost inc apple care+ would be around £100 anyway- £50 excess plus £49 for cover I think. So an excess of £100 on travel insurance would be the same outlay.

Otherwise home insurance for accidental damage or £100-£180 for apple repair in store.

Hope you have a great holiday and no have more 'events'!

cheers

Also check with your credit card company (if you used a credit card) many have free insurance that adds a year onto the apple warranty. They may cover a broken watch face!

good point but if its a UK credit card company I'm almost certain that non of them offer this anymore. Shame actually.
Barclaycard made a big deal of this service in the 80 & 90's with 'Mr Bean' in the TV ads.
I think amex may still offer cover but they work a bit different.

Can't hurt to give them a call though!

Update;

I got my watch repaired by Apple. Store (Norwich UK) had only seen 1 other and didn't know the costs, initially they wanted to charge me £480 due to being unrepairable, however after they chatted wth support they said it was a repairable job and charged me £259.

When I got it back it looked like a brand new watch, so very happy.

Now waiting on the insurance company to reimburse.

fingers crossed excess will be <£100 factoring in applecare+ and their excess (of course applecare+ is two incidences).

would you go for applecare+ on future apple watch purchases?

I would/will!
