Hi,

I have a 2021 iMac 24inch base model in Blue and I'm trying to sell it locally for 720.00 because I'm looking to buy the MacBook Air 15inch, however I'm not getting anyone interested in buying it. I don't want to go too low but is 720.00 a good selling price? I'm a little nervous to sell it on eBay/shipping the iMac because I don't want it to get damaged in shipping/damaged while bringing it over in my car to get it shipped.

Thank you

Selling locally is always preferable. Where/how are you advertising it? If you are in an area with lots of eyes on your ads and you aren't getting any responses, then it is likely that your price is too high. If so, then lower your price.

Not only is shipping packaging, cost, and possibility of damage an issue with a non-local sale, there is also the uncertainty of the payment. Nothing beats cash money up-front and a local sale.

Don't just pluck a number 720 out of the air. That is more than 50% of the new price (if you are in the US).

What will Apple offer you for the iMac if you buy a new 15" MBA? That is your base price with no effort or risk on your part. How much effort and risk are you prepared to take to get more?

How much are they selling for (not asking price) on eBay? How much do they sell for in your local buy/sell web site?

Hi, yeah I bought it originally from the Apple refurbished store and according to the trade in estimator I’ll only get 490.00 if I were to trade it in unfortunately. It’s selling for approximately between 750-850 on the various sites

Hi, yeah I’ve been trying to sell it like on Craigslist and Facebook so far

In addition to those, try your local "NextDoor" group(s). I have used that channel successfully for selling Apple stuff several times in the past. Advantage is that all the people responding to your ad will be very local and easy to meet with for a face-to-face cash transaction without any shipping. And, you can do any last-minute dickering on price quickly and in person after you have actually met them and they have seen your device.

Try listing it on Facebook Marketplace but make sure before you meet them check and see there account is not new for instance I would rather meet someone that has a few pics and joined Facebook in 2009 compare to someone with no pictures and just joined 2023. Also if they post their first and last name make sure to track it online and see if anyone in your area go by that name. Also for Ebay make sure its not a new seller and don't ship oversea I ship a iPhone to china and somehow USPS lost it or it got lost in china and the buyer didn't receive the phone or maybe he did receive it but ebay took the money and refunded him back so I lost the iPhone and money thats my first and last time shipping anything oversea.
