Can someone help me? I live in CA and am probably cutting it close. Can anybody confirm the price including tax? I'm in school and I work close to full time and hopefully saved enough for the phone w/2-year deal.

I believe Cali is 8.25% State and then applicable county/district depending on where you live. You search it and do the math!

CA taxes on the full unsubsidized price, so it would be $50 or $60 for the state tax (depending on which iPhone you get) then add the price of the iPhone and the local tax.

w/ is shorthand for with. And also take note that as I said earlier, CA taxes on the full unsubsidized price.

and CA has state income tax

I think CA has got to be the most heavily taxed state in the US!
At least in Texas, we don't have income tax and we don't get taxed on full prices...

Texas has the highest property taxes in the US (I believe New Jersey is a close second).

My friend pays roughly $18k a year on his $900k Dallas home. Of course it varies by counties in each state.

Getting back to the OP, CA taxes full unsubsiized price so you get hit with $600-700 charge plus taxed for that amount.

I believe Tenn has the higest state wide sales tax at 9.25%.

California sales taxes is 8.25% but I believe each city in California can impose extra sales taxes in addition to the 8.25. It's high in Los Angeles. I was just there visiting my brother. I thought it was a misprint. But it's close to 10% LA city/sales taxes.

If you are that close you likely need to be saving your money for something else like rent or a car payment

I agree, if there is any doubt if you can afford it... you can't.

yeah I know, but I've been saving for a new phone for a while and this is it. I've got all my payments caught up and I think I can treat myself to something for once. thanks for the help guys

If you are cutting it that close get the 16gb..... the total price should come in less than the pre-tax 32gb price.

You will also want to look up the tax rate in your area

Some times someone posts a question or makes a point and gets bombed with hatred in these forums ... I hate being that guy but DA$N if you are here and seriously buying an ip4 then do the simple freaking math dude!

CA tax sucks. I was all excited cause I got Apple cards for my b-day and thought I wouldn't have to pay anything for my phone. But, I forgot about the taxes...doh! Ended up paying about $50...not to shabby!
