A couple of months ago, I spilt a some water out of water bottle (the cap was not on) over my keyboard. (Mostly the center). It wasn't a whole whole lot, my screen was still on and everything. I immediately turned the macbook upside down and allowed the water to drip out until I could find a towel. I was pretty damn dumb, I didn't turn it off or anything. I restarted my Mac and everything seemed fine.

I've read many topics of spilt water on macs that ruined them, and now I feel pretty damn fortunate. Why in the world was my mac alright? How much water does it usually take to a ruin a mac?

Thanks,

Josh

It depends on how far the water penetrates. If it was on the keyboard and you immediately turned it upside down probably no water reached the logic board or any other sensitive component. All it takes is a very small amount of water on the logic board to potentially create a short circuit so you were very lucky.
