While I doubt we'll see another one this year, its not because of that slogan.

A while back it was declared to be the "Year of the Powerbook", but the Powerbook G5 never appeared.

Apple say its "The Year of the iPad 2"

Some random blogger says otherwise, I'm with apple on this one. ;)

Enough time has passed from the initial posting. The RIM Playbook sales have been scaled way back, and HP is getting out of the business. Samsung appears to be faring a bit better, but they have also been doing some aggressive discounting for their tablets. I don't see anyone else rising to a dominant position.

If you look around, you'll see plenty of estimates for Apple's FY11 Q4, which ends September 24, 2011. Apple sold 9.25 Million iPads during FY11 Q3.

For FY12 Q1 -- the holiday period -- some analysts are already predicting sales of 20 million iPads. Last week, Digitimes reported that Foxconn is shipping 20 million iPads this quarter. In sailing vocabulary, that's what's known as a horizon job. I love the quote from that NYT article: Queen Victoria asked who was second to America in the now-famous 1851 sailing race.

There is no second, your majesty. ;)

Apple's FY11 Q4 results will be announced the third week of October. I don't think anyone has to worry about the weight of Apple's claims.
