iOS How Nav bar button hidden

In ios5 I can't find a 'hidden' property in UINavBarButtonItem class. I have set up the button in storyboard and this seems to prevent variable=nil from disappearing when I want it to.

How do you make a nav bar button disappear in response to a [keyboard resignfirstresponder] call?

Enable=NO doesn't make it disappear.
