My friend was in the market for a laptop so I showed him a 2.16ghz C2D MBP on Apple's store, refurbished, for $1499. He was all ready to buy but when he clicked the link a few hours ago it was sold out. I have no idea how long it takes for more refurbs to come out but I know if it's any longer than a week or so he'll probably just buy a Toshiba or something, so I wanted to give him a heads up beforehand.

Anybody tracking these refurbs to see how often they go onto the Mac store?

I check the refurbs every morning. Early, between 5 and 6. That's when they have the most and as the day goes on the less they have if any.
Tell your friend to check very early and when he sees something, buy it.

Right now they have 9 MacBooks for sale which are anywhere from 14 - 37% off.
They also have 9 MBP - 22-43% off.
Good luck.

Your friend should also note that putting a refurb product in your "cart" while thinking about it does nothing for you. There is no reserve system -- the item is only yours when you finish the transaction.

And yes, check early.
