How often do o check the ECG?

Nor should you. They're normal. Some unfortunate people do feel them a lot.
I checked mine once and set it up to notify. That’s it. Doubt I will be checking on a regular basis.

You don't have to check it at all. It checks automatically without your having to do anything. But that won't stop a lot of people who now have something new to be concerned with.
If you do not have afib, there is no reason to check all the time. Put the appp on notify and forget it.
As have I. Checked it, saw the neat little graph, said "Oh, how cool!", and moved on. Another neat little feature to be used at parties, and other informal gatherings to show off my watch; other than that... Meh.
