My first, and only pair of AirPods, is the pair I’m wearing right now: AirPods Pro.

I have no desire, or need to update them.

Are you like me, or do you update them on a frequent basis?

Take care.

I have never updated mine. I have had them since 2021 I think. But maybe they updated automatically as I have them near my Ipad all the time. I would have to check.

If the question is about upgrading to a newer pair, I had had the OG Airpods before I upgraded to the OG Airpods Pro when they launched. Those Airpods Pro are still going strong because Covid spared them a two-hour-a-day commute so the battery survived for longer, but soon it will be time to upgrade as I don't expect the battery to continue being fine for much longer.
I will upgrade to the Airpods Pro 3. The reason for every upgrade is the same - battery dies and it can't be replaced.

I only have airpod pro 2s because my ones went for a ride in a washing machine. I'm not sure the pro 3's are £220 better than the 2's. (I know same retail, but it's what I would have to pay)

Airpods Pro 1 I got in Nov 2019
Airpods Pro 2 in Feb 2023
Airpods Pro 3 ?? Maybe in the next 6 months or so as some signs that the APP2 battery is starting to wane. They’re one of my favourite Apple products (the standard Airpods and wired earpods never fit my ears) and I use them daily, so I’ve no issue with upgrading every 3 years so.

My AirPods Pro 2 would be close to 3 years old at this point. It’s still going strong actually (a far cry from my first gen AirPods where the battery life dropped to 30 min after 2.5 years). I will still be getting the AirPods Pro 3 though. Just relish the prospect of getting something new after all this time.

I had to replace my AirPods Pro 1, just before Pro 2s came out, when the static got too much. My second Pro 1s are now beeping and failing to charge far too often. Just ordered Pro3s

I update every time they release a new version,
AirPods in 2017
AirPods Pro 2019
AirPods Pro 2 2022
AirPods Pro 3 2025

Also still have the Max from 2023

I got the original AirPods around 2017 or so, then when the battery life started falling for a pair of first-gen Pros in 2020. I’ve had the Pros ever since as their batteries have held up surprisingly well over the last five years now, I don’t plan on upgrading until the batteries die.

I have the AirPods Pro 1. I upgraded to the APP2 when they went to USB-C so I didn't need to drag a Lightning cable around just for my AirPods. The APP1 stay at my desk to use with my iMac, the APP2 go everywhere with me for use everywhere else with my iPhone and iPad.

I don't know when I'll update again. I just bought my wife a set of APP3 (they're her first AirPods), but I'm not updating my own because there are no new features in the APP3 that make it worthwhile to me. I'll update again whenever they release a new model with features I want, or when my APP2 batteries go kaput.

I have the APP2 no need for me to upgrade for good long time I see no need to move to the APP3,... maybe APP 5 maybe 6. Unless I loose one or something.

I usually update after they start failing. My original AirPods had the right pod crap out. The next ones had the left one crap out. My APP1s had the right one crap out. I still have and use my APP2s for work calls and planes. My PB2s are for workouts and sweaty environments, and for work sometimes. I caved and got the Max during this past Amazon Prime Days. Those are my planes, trains, and concerts choice now. Dang they sound good. They're thick girls, but significantly more comfortable for long periods of time.

I updated from pro to pro2 in 2023 after they were damaged, now I pre ordered the pro 3 because of the pro2 terrible battery life and the Pro3 USB-C.

Had the original Pro 1's. Finally died, so I'll get the Pro 3's. Unless there's a great deal on some leftover 2's...

I had the first, original AirPods for a couple of years. Sold them and bought AirPods Pro when they were released. Had them for 3 years, they were exchanged by Apple 3 times under warranty and after the third time I sold them and got the AirPods Pro 2. I still have them but I bought AirPods 4 with ANC last year. I use AirPods 4 almost every day, AirPods Pro 2 are relegated to when traveling or going to somewhere where I know there will be a lot of noise.

Got my 4s with ANC with the Black Friday offer last year, as offers are very rare in the UK and most retailers wouldn’t accept a return if they had been used and didn’t suit. I don’t like tips, so will only consider an upgrade when 5s appear.

I first considered AirPods when the 3s came out, but decided to wait for USB-C.

I’ve only upgraded the firmware once, I think.

Never got gen 1, but did get gen 2. Now have gen 3 as of today. I do notice a difference and so far more comfortable than the Pro 2 and AirPods 4. Way more comfortable than AirPods 3.

Yes, I’m the same way. Back in Apple’s early days, I was always buying the latest gadgets and upgrading every year. I can’t even remember how old my AirPods are now, but I have no real interest in getting anything new. If something breaks, that’s different. 💸
